Gaming Graphics Card – Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 Review

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 is the newest video card from Nvidia. It is an amazing gpu and is currently the world’s fastest DirectX 11 card. If you want a computer that will rip through games, you definitely need to install this video card on your computer’s system. While we were quite impressed with its predecessor, the GTX 480, the GTX 580 is a slight boost up in performance. If you have the GTX 480, we probably wouldn’t recommend the upgrade. It’s too much money for the amount of graphic increase. however, anything short of the 480 would be worth upgrading.

Interesting Features: The Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 allows you to play games in 3d with Nvidia 3d vision technology. With 3d wireless glasses and special software you can play 3d games and watch 3d movies in 3d. Another incredible feature, is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 580′s capability to render anti aliasing 32x. This really smoothes rough edges in games and gives it incredibly life like imagery.
Specs: The Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 contains powerful features including 512 CUDA cores, 1.5GB of DDR5 ultra fast memory, clock rate of 1544 MHz, and a display support for VGA, HDCP, HDMI, mini HDMI, and DVI.

Power Consumption: This graphics card does require quite a bit of power. Be sure that you have a computer capable of providing a minimum of 600 watts. We would recommend 900W to be safe.

Overall: All in all, this is the world’s fastest graphics card. It’s the best video card you can get right now on the market. It’s fairly expensive running around $525. We would recommend this card to the avid gamer or a professional who needs plenty of computing power with great graphics. Although we probably wouldn’t recommend buying this card if you have the GTX 480 or a card similar in power, as we don’t think the power increase is worth $500…. It is always nice though to boast that you have the world’s fastest graphics card! Other gamers will envy your ultimate gaming graphics card.

Specs: The Radeon HD 6970 is a very powerful, state of the art, graphics card. The engine clock speed is 880MHz, contains 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, 176 GB/s memory bandwidth, and a PCI Express 2.1 x16 bus interface. The video card also doesn’t take up that much power. The minimum requirement for this graphics card is only 550 watts. We would recommend a higher power supply if possible, around 750W.

Overall Performance: The Radeon HD 6970 is an amazing graphics card. Install this video card on your computer system and you will have stunning graphics that will blow you away. The high speed memory and bandwidth allow you to power through even the most newest games. Although not quite as fast as the GeForce 570 or 580 product line, this video card is a good step up when upgrading your system. The price is also not bad. Much cheaper than the GeForce 500 line, the Radeon HD 6970 sells around $370 which is not a bad price at all for the performance.

Other notes: The Radeon HD 6970 is a fairly big graphics card. Make sure you’re computer has plenty of space for the card to fit. Also it tends to heat up, so make sure you have a good cooling system in place as well.

Overall: In conclusion, the Radeon HD 6970 is great choice for a gaming graphics card. We would definitely recommend this card to a gaming enthusiast looking for great graphics at a budget of 350 to 400 dollars. Easy to install if you have extra space in your desktop, it’s a great gaming graphics card.
